Principal's Message
Hello Seahawks,
This is Dr. Robert Rasmussen with the OVHS Weekly Update. I hope you had a terrific weekend!
There will be school this week Monday through Friday. Monday will be a Traditional Bell Schedule with Periods 1-6. Tuesday and Thursday will be an Odd Block Schedule with Periods 1, 3, 5, and 7. Wednesday and Friday will be an Even Block Schedule with Periods 2, 4, 6, and 7. Please visit the OVHS website for more information about this week's bell schedule.
This month we celebrate Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Throughout the month of May, we will be recognizing the many achievements that Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders have made throughout our nation's history.
This week is Prom Spirit Week. There will be spirit dress-up days and activities planned on campus each day this week. Students who participate will earn 5-Star points! So Seahawks, make sure you bring lots of school spirit with you this week!
This week is also Staff Appreciation Week. We will be recognizing all of our staff for the work they do to support our students' success. One of the many reasons that OVHS is such a special place is because of our amazing staff!
Students are you interested in going to prom? Well, don't delay in buying your prom ticket. Prom is happening this Saturday at the Yost Theater in Santa Ana. The theme of this year's prom is A Night in Miami. It's going to be an amazing evening for sure! One more thing, don't forget to get your permission slip signed before buying your ticket.
Good luck to all of our Seahawks who will be taking IB or AP exam in the next few weeks. Study hard and always do your best!
Our 5-Star End of the Year Blowout is just around the corner. What does that mean? It means that our Seahawks will be cashing out all of their 5-Star points accumulated this year. 5-Star points don't carry over into the next year. There will be some pretty amazing prizes that our Seahawks will be able to redeem with their 5-Star points. This is where I need your help! We are currently working to resupply our 5-Star store and are looking for donations for this year's event. Please contact the Activities Office if you would like to donate any items for our 5-Star End of the Year Blowout event.
We are quickly approaching the end of the school year and semester grades will be due. If you are a student and are struggling in any of your classes, please make sure to ask your teacher for help. Your teacher is your best resource! If you need additional help, AVID tutors are available to help all students everyday at lunch in Room 415 and don't forget we have online tutoring that is available through tutor.com.
Hey Seahawk Parents, are you looking for a great opportunity to participate at OV? Then look no further! Senior Reflections are coming up in a few weeks on Thursday, May 22nd and Friday, May 23rd. We are still looking for any parents who would like to participate on a Senior Reflection panel. If you are interested, please contact me at: [email protected].
That's all for me Seahawks! I hope you have a wonderful week! And remember, you can't spell lOVe without OV!
