Mr. Robert J. Briggs - Associate Band Director

Robert “Bob” Briggs is a dedicated music educator, designer, and instructor with over 35 years of experience in the marching and performing arts. Though primarily a brass specialist, he has also worked with award-winning winter guards competing in the WGASC and WGI circuits.

An Ocean View High School alumnus, Mr. Briggs continued his musical education at California State University, Long Beach, while also serving in administrative and instructional roles for multiple drum and bugle corps. He went on to serve as an assistant director at Sunny Hills High School and at Newport Harbor High School before returning to Ocean View in 2010.

Beyond his work in high school music programs, Mr. Briggs has held leadership roles across the performing arts community. He recently served as interim director of the UC Irvine Anteater Band and currently governs as president of Impulse Youth Arts Organization. In addition, he operates his own performing arts design and production business, specializing in show coordination, visual design, and production services for competitive ensembles.

A versatile musician, Mr. Briggs has performed across the country in wind ensembles, orchestras, jazz bands, and musical theater productions. He is deeply committed to student growth, musical excellence, and innovative design, ensuring that Ocean View’s program continues to thrive.
