Seahawk Learning Center
The goal of the Seahawk Learning Center is to provide a learning environment that helps students become more efficient academic learners and producers. The Seahawk Learning Center provides students with an opportunity to improve academic success through time management, organization, and the building of academic self-esteem.
Student learning is supported in the SLC through:
- Access to technology
- Access to educational resources and supplies
- Access to one-on-one and small group tutoring
- During the school day and after school
- As a scheduled class and by appointment
- By qualified teachers and senior college tutors
Students are connected to OVHS and their community through:
- Resources offered on campus that are specific to student needs
- Referrals for socio-emotional support to the OVHS Student Support Team
- Referrals to Orange County community support and resources
Student Interventions are initiated through a referral process:
- These are individualized interventions based on student needs
- Attendance
- Grade progress
- Credit completion and recovery
Restorative practices are offered that focus on building a culture of community at OVHS:
- Repairing relationships damaged through conflict, student and student, or staff and student
- An alternative to traditional student disciplinary actions
